Geothermal
Geothermal Heating and Cooling Explained
Geothermal Heating and Cooling has been around for decades and is still the most efficient way to heat and cool a home. We now have Inverter driven compressors that raise the efficiency level to double that of a standard heat pump. Once your system is installed and working you will realize just how much energy a standard heat pump unit wastes. A geothemal system uses the constant temperature of the ground in a CLOSED LOOP installation. A closed loop installation consists of a series of pipes installed either vertically or horizontally in your yard. Once the pipe is installed it is filled with water that transfers the heat from your home to the earth which is a constant temperature all year round.
An OPEN LOOP installation is the use of a Water supply well that supplies water to the unit and is returned to a well or to a ditch. This is often referred to as pump and dump. This is the least expensive Geothermal Installation because once the well is drilled the water can be used for the Geothermal system and also for irrigation. Geothermal systems have a Federal Tax Credit of 26%
